Coming into the Country
Illustration inspired by John McPhee‘s Coming into the Country. Coming into the Country~I is about the upper Yukon region of Alaska, the people there refer to it as “the country”. People who “come into the country” seek a sense of the frontier, often rejecting a lifestyle to try another. It was published in the June 20, 1977 issue of The New Yorker.
